This should be wonderful. It’s not being adjusted correctly or the float valve isn’t the right size for the product. All I know is it just keeps running and dribbles over the side. I’ve made sure it’s level and still it fills up and runs over the edge. I can’t get to the valve because it’s riveted on. Someone more handy can probably get to it. I really wanted to this work. I had a blue plastic bowl that self filled and it worked for a few years. The plastic just allows for more algae issues and the blue bleaches out with time. We can get pictures of deep space, I believe we can get self-filling dog bowls that work!

This is the perfect storm of engineering gone bad. I installed the product and it instantly flooded my kitchen because the cover over the float valve prevented the valve from turning off the water. It hit the cover and couldn’t go high enough to turn off the water flow. After removing the cover to temporarily fix that design flaw I went to bed thinking things were okay. I woke up in the middle of the night to a rainstorm in my basement. What was right above the waterfall on the floor upstairs? The dog bowl. The connection point where the line attaches to the bowl and goes into the side of the bowl had not sealed properly and water had been seeping onto my kitchen floor the entire night. Plus the connection piece for the bowl and the float are made of plastic, so when I went to tighten up the connection to see if I could seal it, the threads snapped right off and water flooded my kitchen for yet a third time. Ripped the entire thing out and returned it. Poor engineering plus insufficient building material equals expensive piece of garbage.

The automatic water dish is installed and working well. This unit didn’t come with instructions which would have made the plumbing hook up smoother. The 304 stainless steel bolts on the dish body already started rusting after a couple of days of rain and high humidity. The braided supply hose was packaged exceeding the minimum bend radius causing the inner tubing to be crimped possibly causing premature tubing failure. With the line under pressure the crimp is less apparent but still present. One of the mounting bolt holes is partially blocked by the float and valve. Hopefully, the materials will hold up over time. My German Shepherd uses the bowl when I am around so I am glad I installed it. I added an inline RV style filter so there is no chlorine taste, hoping he will use this bowl instead of drinking from our pool.
