I have always loved this shampoo to use on my Persians and Himalayans. My first bath will always be with Dawn dishsoap and then a good rinse, however I ALWAYS do the final bath with Crisp Coat. This shampoo cleans the coat, and does NOT leave a residue. Also you do not need to use very much of it. It rinses out well which is extremely important to a heavy coated pet. It has a very light pleasant scent. You should have another smaller dispenser bottle to use. This refill will last me a year so is worth the money

I have a VERY soft Yorkie client that I have tried so many different products on. He still ends up soft and easily matts up. Not after this shampoo! The parent text me the day after asking what was different! I was so excited even she could feel the difference.

I am not sure if a long, double coated breed. It seems like I have to use the conditioner as per the protocol (2x) & same type is NOT enough to condition the coat.
It feels dry.
So I only use that conditioner, and the WHITE On White conditioner last as the crisp is black.
Oh, use gloves, it stains your hands in black.

I researched this product- and Many others- before ordering. When grooming certain breeds- Chow Chows and Pomeranians, they need to have an ultra clean coat to eliminate build up, which results in matting. We purchased this ‘Crisp Coat’ for these specific breeds. Today, we tried it for the first time and were very pleased. Fur was flying during the high pressure blow out- SNOWING in the grooming room!- and the tub was full of hair! Found out it is a great de-shed product too! After the snow storm- the Chow Chows were Gorgeous!- Bouncy, Gorgeous Fur that shined- with No Build Up. Will definately keep this product in our shoppe!

This shampoo is meant for hard coats and it works great. Ideal candidates would be all terriers , poodles, and bichons. If you use this shampoo on a non-hard coated dog , definitely follow up with a conditioner. That being said, when I intend on doing a lot of scissor work on my poodle I always use this shampoo , it just works wonderfully to give the coat the proper texture needed for that kind of work.
The smell is weird. Not bad, but almost like fryer oil. It’s very strange, but this shampoo is meant to do a job, not to smell great. And the job it does, it does well! The strange smell does not linger on the dog though at all, you will only notice it in the tub.
